A rare lunar event known as the "Blue Moon" will be visible tonight (31), offering skywatchers a chance to witness this unusual phenomenon.
Astronomer Gihan Weerasekara stated that this event can occur once every two years in some cases, while under special circumstances it may appear only once every 19 years.
Although it is called a "Blue Moon," the Moon does not actually appear blue in color. The term is used to describe either the second full moon occurring within a single calendar month or an additional full moon in a seasonal lunar cycle.
He further noted that people living in areas with clear skies will have the opportunity to observe this rare lunar phenomenon tonight.
