The election of the National Olympic Committee is scheduled to be held this afternoon (25) at the Olympic Committee headquarters.
The contest has become highly competitive, with five candidates contesting for the position of President.
According to sports association sources, Football Federation President Jaswar Umar, Baseball Association President Asanga Seneviratne, and Shooting Federation representative Shiranta Peiris are considered frontrunners in the race.
A total of 30 votes will be cast at the election, including 28 votes from sports associations and 2 votes from the athletes’ committee.
