Bhagya Francesca has made history as the first Sri Lankan woman to obtain a senior rank in Italy’s Carabinieri police service.
A graduate in Commerce, she is also skilled in several foreign languages. Despite living in Italy, her ability to speak Sinhala fluently has become another notable feature of her achievement.
The rank she earned, “Maresciallo” (Marshal), is considered a highly responsible position within the Italian Carabinieri police force.
Achieving this milestone at the young age of 23 is seen as a proud moment for Sri Lankans and is expected to open doors for her to reach even higher positions within the Italian police service in the future.
